Our hand made rough-hewn drinking mug is made from real cowhorn using the traditional method first employed in the medieval period.
Slicing through a cow horn, then heating the resulting tube, to straighten the sides and shape the mouth by using a metal former, creates these oxhorn beakers. A horn base is then cut from a flat horn plate and attached to form a watertight base. These cups have only been given a light sanding and polish to leave a rustic uneven surface, which suits their traditional character.
Used for feasting and toasting as seen in Game of Thrones clip "Cersei and Sansa Meet", wassailing the fruit trees to ensure a good harvest, sharing mead with your fellow re-enactors or just used as a talking point down your local, these drinking vessels will certainly create a buzz!
For the non-drinkers why not use them as a quirky pen cup or desk tidy?
